We are Gabe and Jennifer Dix. We live in north central Kansas on a small 50 acre farm along with our daughter Emma. Here we currently run a herd of around 30 Weinheimer Spanish goats. We also currently run a composite Spanish influenced commercial herd of around 60 does.
- Our goal is to have our does out grazing for as much of the year as possible. We are limited on acreage and grazing days, so we utilize a combination of native and brome pasture, along with seasonally planted cover crops mixes.
- Within our herds we select for maternal traits-fertility, good udders, correct teats, and mothering ability. We select for correct conformation-volume, good feet, and wide based horn sets. We also select for feed efficiency, temperament, and goats that can forage well and be parasite resistant.
- Our mission is to raise true low maintenance meat goats that have the ability to survive and adapt in multiple climates, on various forages, and with different management practices.
- We offer a selection of Spanish Goat Association & SGR certified, verified, and DNA’d Weinheimer bucks and does. Our goal is to preserve the true genetics of the breed by promoting, conserving and safeguarding the genetic diversity of these Spanish goats. We are SGR Gold Certified Breeder's and Lifetime Gold members.
- We also offer composite Spanish influenced does and bucks from our commercial herd. These crosses are all 50 percent or more Spanish and obtained by breeding selected commercial meat does to our Spanish bucks. This cross produces an excellent product for the terminal meat market and replacement does for commercial producers looking for hardy, productive, low input females.
